PORTFOLIO - 1123 COLLECTION

BIO
My name is Andrea Marti and I am a ceramist based in Lititz, Pennsylvania. After working for several years in art institutions and many more traveling the world with a theatrical company, everything changed when I was introduced by happenstance to the ancient craft of ceramics. Despite holding a bachelor's degree in Humanities and Philosophy of Art, I had never before discovering ceramics attempted to create art myself.
For the last four years, from the solitude of my studio, I have been learning the craft and techniques and dedicating my time to finding my own voice and aesthetics. My ceramics are my journey of self-awareness and every piece is a moment of revelation.
The 1123 Collection is my first cohesive body of work. My understanding of art and philosophical views are at the core of this collection: a series of colorful decorative pieces with geometrical patterns. This collection is a tribute to my cultural heritage: a journey back to my origins and the ideas, symbols, and images that have shaped my taste and aesthetics.
